Works with your Plaud, in the room and on phone calls.
Fathom takes notes on your video calls. Kasset takes them on your
calls and in the room, on your phone or a Plaud you wear, in
one library. Stored and processed in France.
Fathom is built around the video call. Kasset is built around the
conversation, wherever it happens, and keeps it in Europe.

stored and processed in France, under a DPA governed by Belgian law.

A few useful answers
Questions?
Can Fathom record in-person meetings? +
Not yet. Fathom's help centre says in-person capture is coming soon in
its iPhone app, and that when a room is recorded through a laptop call,
Fathom cannot tell the speakers in the room apart. Kasset records
conversations in person today, on your phone or a Plaud Note Pro or
NotePin S.
Can Kasset record phone calls? +
Yes, with a Plaud Note Pro on Kasset Pro. Attach it to the back of your
phone and it records both sides of the call; Kasset turns the recording
into notes. The NotePin S records conversations in person only. Check
the rules on recording calls where you and the other person are.
What is a good Fathom alternative for meetings outside Zoom? +
Kasset takes notes on Meet, Teams and Zoom from your computer, and on
the conversations that happen in the room: a client visit, a site walk,
a coffee. They all become the same kind of note, in one library you can
search and ask questions of.
Where does Fathom store my recordings? +
In the United States. Fathom's trust centre says all data is stored
there, with Google Cloud as its main provider, and lists its AI providers
in the US too. We found no EU data residency option on its published
pages. Kasset stores and processes recordings in France by default.
Does Fathom train AI on my calls? +
Fathom's privacy policy says it uses de-identified meeting data to
train its in-house AI models, and that you can opt out in your account
settings. Kasset never trains or fine-tunes a model on your
conversations.
Does Kasset join my calls as a bot? +
No. Kasset records from your computer. Instead of a bot in the
participant list, invitees get an email before the meeting saying it
will be recorded, on by default.
Which recorders work with Kasset? +
The Plaud Note Pro and the Plaud NotePin S, on Kasset Pro. A yearly Pro
plan includes one. See the offer.
Put it on kasset
Meetings, voice notes and real-world conversations, captured in Europe
and ready when you need them.
Fathom's privacy policy (updated 16 August 2026) names Fathom Video Inc.,
in San Francisco. Its trust centre says all data is stored in the United
States, with Google Cloud as the primary provider, and lists Anthropic,
OpenAI, ElevenLabs, Fireworks, Modal and Voyage AI as AI providers, all
in the US and forbidden from training on customer data. The privacy
policy says Fathom uses de-identified data to train its in-house models,
with an opt-out in account settings, and the trust centre says
recordings are kept until you delete them. Fathom Notetaker joins Zoom,
Meet and Teams; a bot-free mode is available on Mac. Fathom's help centre
lists in-person capture as coming soon in its iPhone app. Fathom has an
MCP server. We found no way to connect a Plaud or other recorder on Fathom's published pages.
About Kasset
Plaud devices connect on Kasset Pro; phone calls need a Plaud Note Pro,
and the NotePin S records in person only.
Kasset has no importer for Fathom recordings. Kasset is on Mac first;
Windows is coming, and the iPhone and Android apps are in beta. The recording notice reaches invitees of
meetings on a connected calendar, up to 30 minutes before; it does not
reach people in the room who were not invited. Recording people in person
carries the same duties as recording a call; see the
GDPR page.
